By looking at the Japanese subtitles, I was able to more easily recognize a lot of the grammar and words that are used. For example, starting at the 0:46 mark, the line 「耳をすませば、今でも聞こえる」uses the ば conditional along with ても/でも. While looking into this line, I learned that すます is a transitive verb that essentially means "to strain one's ears" or "to listen carefully", which the video translates as "try to listen".
I thought the sentence structure was fairly standard, which helped make the lyrics more understandable without me having to rely as much on the English subtitles. I think it's fun to explore the lyrics and try to figure out the translation yourself.
