A Guiding Light for the New Year

 

Since I watched a lot of anime over Christmas break, I discovered one of my new favorite songs: Michishirube, or Guiding Light, which is the ending from Violet Evergarden. The lyrics are hopeful while the song overall conveys both tranquility and sadness with its visuals and sound, which is fitting considering how emotional the content of the series is. I noticed that the singer pronounced を as "o" unlike some other songs I've listened to, which I think may have been a choice to better maintain the flow of the lyrics.

私のふゆやすみはよかったです。きょうだいが五人いますが、あにの一は行きませんでした。かぞくといっしょにクッキーを食べました。それから、「マリオパーティー」をしました。そして、「ソニック・ザ・ヘッジホッグ3」を見ました。私は一人で「ヴァイオレット・エヴァーガーデン」と「ロマンティック・キラー」を見ました。
