Homework X Blogging

For today's post I thought I'd share one of my favorite Spy X Family moments (of which there are many). In this clip, the protagonist (Loid/Twilight) has to fight against his fellow WISE agents in a rented-out theme park to rescue his daughter Anya because she's a big fan of the "Spy Wars" show, which features "Bondman" as the protagonist. It shows that Loid is really dedicated to being a good dad since he plays along with the whole thing in order to make Anya happy.

Part 2 - Blogging Tendency

Hi! Today I want to share the full version of one of my favorite anime openings (admittedly I've only been watching two series so far, so I don't know too many). It comes from Phantom Blood, the first part of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.

I've never been much of a rock guy, but this song stuck out to me when I first heard it in my binge of JoJo Part 1. It has a very epic sound to it, which is fitting as the lyrics are talking about Jonathan Joestar and Dio Brando (the two main characters of Part 1) and how their destinies become intertwined, which is also why the song's title can translate to "The Fate of That Blood" in English. 

Another one of my favorite Japanese songs is "Our Light", which plays during the credits of the true ending in Persona 5 Royal. It's a lot slower than the first song generally. but I like the different feel.

Part 1 - Phantom Blog

こんにちは！My name is D.J. Hauge. I'm a freshman at Notre Dame majoring in Computer Science through the College of Arts and Letters. I grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and I am the youngest of six children. I chose to study Japanese partly because one of my friends started doing it. Also, a lot of things I enjoy come from Japan. I like Nintendo games as well as Ace Attorney, Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, Yakuza, and Persona (the last two have some great songs that are in Japanese). In terms of anime, I've recently become a big fan of Spy x Family and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. So far, the only manga I've read are some Zelda manga (like Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask) and some Catholic ones from Manga Hero (such as "Many Are Called"). 

I've been doing a few months of self-study already but haven't learned too much. I'm excited to see what the future of this class has in store!
