Sound! Euphonium Saturday

 

I like this part from the anime Sound! Euphonium because there's a lot of attention to detail with how the music is played and animated. The clip shows how Yuuko (the girl with the ribbon) has a strong devotion to Kaori, her senpai, with how badly she wants Kaori to get the solo. I have to say, though, I feel like her reaction at the end is a bit over the top (and honestly kind of funny). I've personally never seen anyone get that worked up in my experience with band, but hey, it's anime.

Happy Mar10 Day!

Completely unrelated to the date, today's post is about a scene from Kaguya-sama: Love is War. I think it's funny how serious the narrator sounds over a trivial matter and how Shirogane and Shinomiya's voices and expressions change dramatically. Also, I noticed the somewhat frequent use of "wasureru", which we learned recently.

はる休み

 今、いそがしいですから、はる休みにたくさんねたいです。それから、クランチロールのトライアルをはじめたいです。私はやすい物が好きだから、サブスクリプションをまだ買っていません。クランチロールで「ひびけ！ユーフォニアム」という音楽のアニメが見たいです。音楽とアニメが大好きだからです。そして、「ファイナルファンタジーVII リバース」というゲームをしたいです。はる休みは楽しいですね！

Sōran Saturday

 

This amusing clip from the second season of Kaguya-sama: Love Is War features the character Miyuki Shirogane learning and practicing the Sōran Bushi, a type of sea shanty and dance from Hokkaido. I had never heard of it before watching this show, so it was nice to learn something new about Japanese culture.

何が’ほしいですか

子どもの時に私ときょうだいはりょうしんに「レゴロードオブザリング」というゲームをもらいました。私はロードオブザリングがすきですから、うれしかったです。

今、あまりお金をもっていませんから、もっとお金がほしいです。それから、「メタファー：リファンタジオ」というゲームを買いたいです。そして、私はアニメがすきですから、クランチロールのサブスクリプションがほしいです。

どろろのクリップ

This bittersweet clip from the 2019 version of the anime Dororo depicts a tender moment between the protagonist, Hyakkimaru, and his adoptive father, Jukai. The scene is amusing but also sad because the reason that Hyakkimaru incorrectly calls Jukai おかあちゃん is that his only knowledge of parents is from what he knows about Dororo's mother. Also of note is that Jukai uses わし to refer to himself, perhaps reflecting his age and/or the older setting of the anime.
